Bowl projections: TCU controls playoff fate ahead of Ohio State, Baylor

The College Football Playoff committee has spoken and it’s clear TCU will be in the final four if the Horned Frogs can post an impressive win against Iowa State. The move of TCU to third in this week’s ranking ahead of Florida State will make it hard for Ohio State or Baylor to pass the Frogs if the top four teams all win.

That doesn’t mean all hope is lost for the Buckeyes or Bears. A Seminoles loss to Georgia Tech would create an opening for one of the teams. There’s a possibility both Ohio State and Baylor could lose to Wisconsin and Kansas State, respectively, which would create even more chaos.

But it’s pretty apparent TCU will be in good shape as long as it avoids the type of performance Baylor had against Texas Tech last week.

The final weekend of the regular season is shaping up to be a dramatic one in the first year of the College Football Playoff.

All four spots are still undecided with Alabama, Florida State, Oregon and Ohio State facing conference championship games, and TCU and Baylor finishing off their Big 12 schedule.

WEEK 15:Top 10 games to watch

The Bears have the biggest test with No. 9 Kansas State visiting Waco. Meanwhile, the Ducks hope to avenge their lone defeat to Arizona, and the Buckeyes face No. 11 Wisconsin without J.T. Barrett behind center.

The stage is set for an exciting finish.

As I conduct my year end reviews on the days of my life for 2014, I now admit to being a senior citizen for real. After turning 65 years old in September, I decided to embrace the twilight as a friend guiding me home to the afterlife whatever it might be.
